Day 01: Arusha to Loliondo – Journey into Maasai Land
After an early breakfast, your driver and Maasai guide will pick you up from your hotel and begin the scenic drive to Loliondo. On the way, you’ll enjoy beautiful views of the active volcano Oldoinyo Lengai and Lake Natron. The drive takes approximately 7 hours.
Once you arrive and settle in at camp, you’ll take a short hike into the nearby forests. If you’re quiet enough, you may spot the elusive Colobus monkeys swinging through the trees. On the return, there’s an opportunity to greet a local Maasai family in the neighboring village.

Day 02: Loliondo – Hike to Sonjo Valley
Today begins your hiking adventure. After breakfast, you’ll leave the Maasai villages behind and hike through woodlands and bush to the Sonjo Valley, home of the Batemi (Sonjo) people. Along the way, enjoy a picnic lunch with panoramic valley views. The hike continues through fields, forests, and steppe to a Batemi village.

Day 03: Sonjo Valley – Hike to Digodigo
Continue your hike through the colorful red earth valley. Today’s path leads through a rainforest with a river, where you may spot tropical birds, butterflies, and exotic plants. After crossing a small river and enjoying a lunch break, you’ll reach Digodigo village, where your camp is located near the local clinic (Dispensary). Later, visit the village and explore the small shops and bars.

Day 04: Digodigo – Hike to Masusu Village
Your hike today leads you from the hilly terrain into flatter, drier lands dotted with acacia forests. Expect to meet colorful birds, herders, Maasai women, and even warriors along the way. After lunch beneath a shady tree, you’ll spot Lake Natron and Oldoinyo Lengai in the distance. The goal today is a small Maasai village called Masusu.

Day 05: Masusu – Hike to Lake Natron & Transfer to Engaresero
Begin your final hiking day early, descending steep cliffs into the Great Rift Valley. The views of Lake Natron and Oldoinyo Lengai are breathtaking. Lunch will be enjoyed near the lake’s shores. The lake, rich in soda, is home to flamingos and pelicans. From there, vehicles will transfer you to Engaresero village.
You will rest and overnight at Lengai Campsite, with an optional hike to the Engaresero Waterfalls, a crucial water source for local communities.

Day 06: Lake Natron – Transfer to Ketumbeine – Departure
After breakfast, leave the volcano and head toward Ketumbeine in safari vehicles. Enjoy the “African Massage” as you traverse rough terrain. From there, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight back home, taking unforgettable memories of Africa with you.
