Trip Overview
We will collect you from your hotel in Arusha, and after a scenic 2-3 hour drive, you’ll arrive at Tarangire National Park. Known for its historical charm, this region was once a popular destination for big game hunters, including Hemingway himself. Since the park’s establishment in 1970, it has transformed into a conservation area where cameras have thankfully replaced hunting rifles.
Tarangire boasts the highest density of elephants in Northern Tanzania, with herds sometimes reaching 300 animals. The year-round water in the Tarangire River attracts diverse wildlife during the dry season (July to October), offering unforgettable views of lions, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, and various antelope species. You may even spot a python! Bird watchers will also be delighted by over 550 bird species, including the world’s largest bird, the Masai ostrich.
Day 01: To Tarangire NP
Around lunchtime, you’ll stop at a picturesque picnic spot before enjoying more wildlife viewing in the afternoon. By sunset, you’ll return to your hotel in Arusha with memories of an incredible day in the wild.
