Magamba Rainforest Hike​
Distance:
Approximately 10-15 km, depending on the route.
Difficulty: Moderate.
Highlights:
Walk through dense tropical rainforests, enjoy bird watching, and spot monkeys such as the colobus and blue monkeys. You’ll also visit a historic German war bunker and get sweeping views over the plains.
Distance:
Around 6 km from Lushoto town (round-trip).
Difficulty: Easy to moderate.
Highlights:
The hike takes you through small villages and farms to reach the Irente Viewpoint, where you can enjoy panoramic views over the Maasai plains, as well as the Irente Farm, famous for its locally produced cheese and jams.

Approximately 8 km (one-way) from Lushoto to Soni village.
Difficulty: Moderate.
Highlights:
Explore the Soni and Kisasa waterfalls on this scenic route. The lush surroundings, gushing water, and peaceful environment make it an excellent hike for relaxation.

30+ km (multi-day hike).
Difficulty: Challenging.
Highlights:
This is a longer hike that takes several days and passes through numerous villages, offering breathtaking views over the Usambara Mountains and down into the plains. Mtae village is known for its stunning sunset views, and the experience gives you a taste of local Tanzanian village life.
Distance: 20+ km.
Difficulty: Moderate to challenging.
Highlights:
This trail leads to one of the oldest and most preserved forest reserves in Tanzania, often referred to as the “Shangri-La of the Usambaras.” It is home to many rare plant species and wildlife, offering a true wilderness experience.
